InMotion V11Y

The well-known V11 received its update to continue the model's success. Let's start with the most important thing — what is new on the V11Y compared to the V11.

What's new compared to the V11

  • Orange bumpers protect the points that get scuffed most in everyday use: the headlight, the rear stop light, and the battery boxes.
  • New mainboard: perhaps the most important upgrade. InMotion's engineers moved to a Raptor-series controller, and the main gain is safety — 18 capacitors against only 2 in the old version, and 42 MOSFETs against 16 on the V11.
  • Stronger motor: 2.5 kW with 150 N·m of torque, replacing the V11's 2.2 kW motor with 85 N·m.
  • Higher top speed: with a new controller and motor, top speed rises to 60 km/h — software-limited, while the hardware is capable of considerably more.
  • 10 A fast charging: the old model charged at 5 A only. With two 5 A chargers you can effectively charge the wheel twice as fast.
  • New smart BMS that balances the cells individually and lets you monitor their voltages in the app.
  • 85 mm of suspension travel.
  • Pedals and pedal height: lowered from 9.76″ to 9″. The shorter height improves acceleration and braking performance and reduces the perched-up feeling on tilts; the trade-off is less ground clearance, though 9″ is still comparatively high. These pedal brackets are fixed and do not have the adjustable mountings of the V12.

Summed up: the V11Y gets a significant upgrade in power, torque, and safety. The only downside is the weight increase — and it is small enough that you won't feel it.

MyEWheel Expert Review

4.3
The InMotion V11Y is not a completely new wheel, but a thoughtful modernization of one of the most successful suspension commuters. The familiar 18×3-inch format and 85 mm vertical air suspension still deliver the smooth, composed road ride that made the original V11 so popular, while the 2500 W motor, stronger Raptor controller and Smart BMS provide a noticeably better safety and performance foundation. Its 1500 Wh battery gives it a useful range advantage over lighter rivals such as the KingSong S18 Pro+, and the IPX6 body and IPX7-rated battery add welcome reassurance for year-round commuting. I also value the practical improvements: lower spiked pedals, protective bumpers, strong lighting, dual charging ports and a proper trolley handle. At around 30 kg, however, it is no longer genuinely lightweight, and its tall body can feel top-heavy until the rider adapts. The suspension is excellent for streets and moderate trails, but setting both air chambers correctly takes care, and tire or motor servicing still requires considerably more disassembly than on the newest modular designs. The advertised 60 km/h is best treated as a maximum, not a comfortable cruising target for an 84 V wheel, especially as the battery level drops. Compared with the S18 Pro+, the V11Y offers more range and weather protection; the KingSong remains lighter and more playful. For riders prioritizing comfort, commuting range and mature road manners over extreme speed or aggressive off-road use, the V11Y remains one of the most balanced suspension EUCs available.
