Cookie Policy
This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on www.myewheel.com, exactly which ones we set, how long each lasts, and how you control them. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers everything else we do with your personal data.
Your choice, and how to change it
Nothing beyond the strictly necessary is switched on until you say so. On your first visit you can accept all, reject all non-essential, or choose category by category — the three buttons carry equal weight, and closing the banner without choosing grants nothing.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any moment: open Cookie settings, which is also linked at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing is exactly as easy as consenting, and it takes effect immediately. It does not make what we did before the withdrawal unlawful, and it does not delete data already collected — for that, write to us (see section "Questions").
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store, so that the site can recognise your browser on your next request — that is how a basket survives a page reload and how you stay signed in. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are first-party; cookies set by another company whose code runs on the page are third-party. A session cookie disappears when you close the browser; a persistent one has an expiry date.
Websites can also store data in your browser without cookies — in local storage or session storage. The law treats that the same way, so we list ours below and ask for consent on the same basis.
The four categories
- Strictly necessary. Without these the store does not work: your basket, checkout, sign-in and session security, and the language you chose. They cannot be switched off, and they do not require consent.
- Preferences. Non-essential choices remembered to make the site more comfortable. Off by default.
- Analytics. Aggregated measurement of how the store is used, so we can improve it. Off by default.
- Marketing. Used by us and our advertising partners to measure campaigns and show relevant offers elsewhere on the web. Off by default.
Strictly necessary cookies (always on)
All of these are set by us, on the myewheel.com domain. None of them carries an advertising identifier, and none of them is shared with an advertising network.
| Cookie | What it does | Expires |
|---|---|---|
mew_cart | Identifies your basket so its contents survive a reload and a return visit. | 60 days |
mew_session | Keeps you signed in to your customer account. Holds a random token only — never your password. | 30 days (2 hours for a support session opened by our staff on your behalf) |
mew_promo | Remembers a promotional code you entered, so it is still applied when you reach checkout. | 7 days |
mew_consent | Stores the cookie categories you accepted or rejected. Without it we would have to ask you on every page. | 12 months |
mew_vid | A random identifier with no name, email or profile attached. Its only job is to tie your consent choice to the record we keep as proof of it. | 2 years |
NEXT_LOCALE | Remembers the language you selected, so we do not hand you back an English page. | 12 months |
mew_views | Groups the products viewed during one signed-out visit so that "recently viewed" works. A random id, nothing else. | When you close the browser |
mew_attr | Set only if you arrive from a campaign link. Holds the campaign parameters that were in your own URL (utm_*, and the Google or Meta click id) so the order can be credited to the campaign that brought you. It contains nothing about you. | 30 days |
mew_ref | Set only if you arrive through a partner link. Holds that partner's referral code so their commission can be credited if you order. It builds no profile, follows you to no other website, and is never shared with an ad network. | 7 days |
mew_admin, mew_partner | Sign-in sessions for our own staff back office and for the partner portal. Never set for an ordinary customer. | 7 days / 14 days |
Preferences
We currently set no cookie in this category. If that changes, this page is updated before the cookie is used — and the cookie is still set only if you have granted Preferences.
Analytics — only if you allow it
With your consent we measure how the store is used through Google Analytics 4, loaded via Google Tag Manager (Google Ireland Limited). We use it to see which pages and products people actually reach, and where they give up — not to identify you personally.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes one browser from another so visits can be counted. | 2 years | |
_ga_<property id> | Holds the state of the current Analytics session. | 2 years |
Marketing — only if you allow it
With your consent we measure our advertising and show offers to people who have shown an interest in what we sell.
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
_gcl_au | Links an ad click to what happened afterwards, so a campaign can be credited with an order. | 90 days | |
_fbp | Meta | Identifies a browser for Meta advertising measurement and remarketing. | 3 months |
If you reject this category, these tags are not loaded at all — the cookies are never written, and no advertising identifier leaves your browser.
Measurement from our server. When you have granted this category and you complete an order, we also report that purchase to Meta from our own server, through its Conversions API. This is the same single conversion the pixel reports — the two carry a shared event id so it is counted once, not twice — and it exists because ad blockers and browser tracking prevention routinely stop the browser event from arriving. The data sent is the order value, the products, and your email address, phone number and name in hashed form (an irreversible fingerprint, never the values themselves), together with the advertising identifiers already in your browser. If you have not granted marketing, nothing is sent: your choice is recorded on the order at the moment you place it, and the report is skipped.
Local and session storage
| Key | What it does | Kept |
|---|---|---|
myewheel:compare | The wheels you added to the comparison tray. Never leaves your device. | Until you clear it or clear your browser data |
myewheel:favorites | The products you saved as favourites. Never leaves your device. | Until you clear it or clear your browser data |
mew_purchase_<order number> | A one-line marker on the order confirmation page so that refreshing it does not count your purchase twice. | When you close the browser tab |
How your choice is enforced
We use Google Consent Mode v2. Before you choose anything, our pages declare every storage type as denied except security storage — advertising storage, ad user data, ad personalisation, analytics storage, functionality storage and personalisation storage all start off. Only when you save a choice do we send the matching grants, and only the categories you granted are turned on. This is set in the page head, before any tag can run, which is why rejecting genuinely means nothing is written rather than "written, then ignored".
For accountability we also keep a record of each choice: the categories, the version of this policy, the language, the time, and the IP address and browser your request carried. We keep that record for as long as we may need it to demonstrate that valid consent was obtained, and no longer.
Other companies you may meet on our pages
- Mollie — when you pay by card or a local method you are taken to Mollie's own secure environment. Any cookie set there is Mollie's, under Mollie's privacy and cookie policy, and we never see your card details.
- YouTube — product videos are embedded through youtube-nocookie.com, which does not set advertising cookies before you press play. If you play a video, Google may store data on your device under its own policy.
- Fonts — our typefaces are served from our own servers. Loading a page on this site makes no request to Google Fonts.
- Search — the instant search runs on our own infrastructure. Your queries are not sent to a third-party search provider.
International transfers
Our own cookies and the data behind them stay within the European Union. The analytics and advertising providers named above are part of groups established in the United States; where they transfer data there, they rely on the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and on Standard Contractual Clauses. If you do not grant Analytics or Marketing, no such transfer takes place through this website.
Managing cookies in your browser
Independently of our settings panel, every major browser lets you block or delete cookies — usually under Settings → Privacy. Blocking all cookies will break the basket, checkout and sign-in, because those need the strictly necessary cookies listed above. Deleting our cookies also deletes your saved consent, so the banner will greet you again on your next visit.
Our banner does not currently act on "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control browser signals; the choice you make in our Cookie settings is the one that governs.
Changes to this policy
When we add or remove a cookie, we update this page — and if the change affects a category you consented to, we ask again. The current version is always the one published here. This version was last updated on 20 August 2026.
